Preheat oven to 375. Shortcake: 1 c. flour 3/4 c. sugar 1 t. baking powder 2 T. shortening 1 1/2 c. fresh cranberries 1/2 c. milk Hot Butter Sauce 1/2 c. marg 1/2 c. brown sugar 1/2 c. heavy cream 1/2 t. vanilla |

To prepare shortcake sift together flour,sugar,baking powder.Cut in shortening.Carefully fold in cranberries.Add milk & mix lightly.Spoon into greased 8" sq baking pan.Bake 30 min.To prepare butter sauce,melt marg. Stir in brown sugar til dissolved.Add cream,vanilla & heat slowly.Do not bring to boil.Serve hot shortcake with hot butter sauce. Makes 8 servings |
