The Painted
iD was a female fronted folk-rock-pop band based in Santa Monica, California.
The band's name came from Sigmund Freud's description of the innerworkings of
the human mind, and not the thing that got you into bars when you were under
age. Eric Layton of Entertainment Today said: "With the right promotion and
breaks, The Painted iD could be ready for prime time."
The band's second full-length recording was released in January of 1999, and entered the playlists of college radio stations across the country. It is available worldwide via the INTERNET at CDBaby.com, RocketEntertainment.com,and Amazon.com. Produced and engineered by Jon Mathias (Tom Petty, Dire Straits, J Geils), this 12-song, self-titled CD offers an insight into the diverse imaginations of the individuals in the band, as well as the personality of the band as one. The songs lead you from "stellar" love stories ("Complicated Goddess") to escapism ("Home on Moon") with introspection about desire and inter-personal relationships in between. Ambience is added in the form of "atmospherics" by Mathias and percussionist Mike Faue.
Childhood friends, lead vocalist Tori Solomon and guitarist Peter De Baets
began this original band by blending the familiar sound of acoustic guitars,
melodious vocals and intriguing lyrics. With the addition of a tight rhythm
s
ection in the
form of Holland-native Ricardo "Rico" Belled on bass and east coast-born Barry
Schapira on percussion, this foursome created its own brand of adult alternative
pop.
The mid-1990's took the band from large county fair appearances to intimate
coffeehouse concerts. In either venue, audiences enjoyed an authentic and thought-provoking
experience, and… shared in their artistic talents as the "iD" invited all audience
members to join in a community painting at each show.
