OK, some clever-dick will trip us up on this, but it’s important to understand "fastener" terminology. Those long things with a thread running down them are NOT "bolts". Terminology used in the fastener list is as follows :-
HEXNUTS are those six-sided things.
LOCKNUTS are "thin" hex nuts. Used to help lock two nuts together.
SETSCREWS (and machine screws) have a thread all the way from head, to the end. Technically "bolts" are not threaded all the way.
SOCKETSCREWS have a thread all the way too, the difference being that the head has a hex HOLE in it to use with an allen key of the right size.
ROUNDHEAD setscrews are domed, non-countersunk and use a conventional slotted screwdriver.
CHEESEHEAD setscrews also use a conventional slotted screwdriver, but they have a round, flat top.
PANHEAD setscrews are like a cheesehead, but the whole head is a bit bigger and "flatter" than a Cheesehead.
CAPHEAD socket screws also have a (slightly deeper) round, flat top but you use an allen key rather than a screwdriver to turn it.
BUTTONHEAD socket screws are like a roundhead, but you use an allen key rather than a screwdriver to turn it. They provide a very neat finish, but are generally a bit more expensive to produce.
NYLOK nuts have a nylon insert to help them stop turning, and therefore coming lose on the socket/setscrew. They cannot be turned by hand, so all the thread needs to be taken up using a spanner.
BZP means "bright zinc plate". These give a non-fancy, plated finish, but will develop a "bloom" and ultimately rust if not looked after.
STAINLESS means, er, stainless. If you want the best fit these, but don’t expect any "concours" prizes, they weren’t used 40 years ago !
