AUTUMN NEWSLETTER
FOUNDERS NIGHT. Since we compiled the list of known events for
Triple we have had a note from Alan Grassam saying that he and John Burton
are organising a get together to drink the club toast at The Royal Oak, Hardington
Mandeville which is somewhere in deepest Somerset. E-Mail me for contact information.
No matter where you decide to celebrate this special evening we
wish you well and at 9 o`clock when we all drink the toast to the club and its members
past, present and future, let`s remember the importance of our sport and the satisfaction
we, and others, all get from it. Long may it continue.
SHELSLEY WALSH. What a wonderful weekend this turned out to be
and wasn`t it splendid to see so much interesting machinery and so many MCC members at
what was, after all, the MAC, celebrating its centenary with the sort of event it
has made so much its own. At a time when we are naturally concerned with our
centenary we should remember that the Midland Automobile Club was also founded in 1901 and
just as we have become synonymous with the three long classic trials so they have always
been linked with that famous Worcestershire hillclimb. So from one great club to
another
. Congratulations!
Printing schedules prevented coverage of Shelsley in the current Triple
but the next issue, which should be with you just before Christmas will contain a full
report and lots of pictures.
CENTENARY SCRAPBOOK. For those of you who are anxious to know
when this will appear the answer is NOW. Copies, price £7.50 including post and
packing are available from the President, address as above. Please send your cheque
with the order.
To avoid disappointment let us stress that this is not another club
history; that has already been done by Peter Garnier. This is simply a book to be enjoyed
by anyone interested in our sort of motorsport over the last hundred years with of course
an MCC bias. Many articles and stories have been contributed by members while much has
been culled from books and magazines over the period. As befits a scrapbook, there are
lots of photographs and drawings and while the quality of some have been affected by the
passing years all are interesting and will, we hope, stir happy memories in the reader`s
mind. We think you will enjoy it.
MCC CHRISTMAS CARDS. Yes, it really is that time again. This
year we have a new design based on the cover of the Centenary Scrapbook. We think you will
like it and be proud to send it to your friends. Order now from the President with your
cheques as we have only commissioned a limited print run. The price is £6.50 for a
pack of 10 including p & p.
BANBURY ENIGMA SOCIAL RUN. This is the event to replace the
Edinburgh Trial. Full details and entry form are enclosed with this letter. Time is short
so please enter NOW!
STOP PRESS. As we are writing this the MSA has warned of new
permit restrictions due to the latest F & M outbreaks. This could affect our
future plans but we will keep members informed including a weekly news update on our
website. Just log on to www.ukmotorsport.com/mcc.
Keep your fingers crossed, this may be a false alarm.
