This Keyboard for Hire!

I am a freelance writer.  So the first time I searched the Web, I went straight  to the search engines and typed in "freelance writer," in the naive hope of turning up someone who needed, well, a freelance writer.  Instead I found about 5,000 resume pages by other freelancers, all of them also looking for work.  This did not make trolling online for writing gigs look very promising.

Only much later did I have a satori.  If you need a writer, you don't really want to go through 5,000 writers' resumes -- you want to see what they can write.   Hence these Observatory pages.  Sam Johnson to the contrary, I do write for pleasure as well -- but these pages have an ulterior motive, cheerfully acknowledged: to showcase my work.

A full-time freelancer since 1984, my work has ranged from contract business research to feature-film publicity writing for Paramount Pictures.  In addition I've written a fantasy novel, Catherine of Lyonesse, represented by James Allen of the Virginia Kidd Agency, and am working on a science fiction novel.

So, if you like what you see on this site and you're looking for a writer, email me here.  Rates are open to negotiation.   As for deadlines, I'm not intimidated by them:  The rule in Hollywood is "Can you get it to me yesterday?"

And, if you've gotten this far, here's a resume:

Richard McCaffery Robinson
