Updated space-related Excel
workbooks! They are bundled together in a ZIP file, which you can download here. The workbooks in the package include a
new version of "Starship," allowing design of several ships,
"Startrade," a workbook designed by Todd
Kes (be sure to adjust spam protection of email addy) based on my Interstellar Trade article, and "Speedcost," a workbook
for modeling the relationship between cargo ship travel speed and shipping
costs. As with the earlier release of the "Starship" worksheet,
the parameters differ somewhat from those in my article, and the C programs on my Simulation
Software page, but only in more or less arbitrary assumptions, not the physics.
(MS Excel is required to use the workbooks, but my C programs will run on any DOS/Windoze
machine.)
I'll post full explanations and discussion of them soon! :)
Starship Tools (8/1/01)
Okay, yeah ... so there's nothing much here yet!
Well, actually there are a couple of things - ship drawings I've uploaded in order to
link them from bulletin boards, but have never linked from the Tarrantry
page. So here they are:
HTMS Trevanne (laid down 1937), 9
x 14", 37,700 tons std, 31 kts.
HTMS Sans Souci (laid down
1920), 12 x 8", 16,500 tons std, 32 kts.
I should have had a review of Moulin Rouge - an excellent film that got mixed
reviews, and even the favorable ones mostly missed the point. (Also, Nicole Kidman
is a major babe.) But I shilly-shallied about updating my site. By now it's mostly
out of the theaters, so if you didn't see it you've probably missed your chance. So
sue me ...
