The Prototype
The GWR Hall Class 4-6-0 was a mixed traffic locomotove introduced in 1928. It was developed from the Saint class, and, like many GWR locomotives, used a large number of standard components. The whole class survived to be taken over by British Railways in 1948, and were scrapped from the late 1950s onwards.
The Model
The model has a milled brass chassis, cast iron wheels, and an electrical system similar to that on our Terrier. Coupling and connecting rods are in lost wax cast nickel silver and give a pleasant representation of oiled steel. The superstructure is mainly cast resin, with brass etched elements for the cab and other thin parts. Chimney, steam valve cover etc are lost wax cast brass. Name and numberplates, and livery are supplied to the customers order.
