Gauge 1 uses a track gauge of 45mm. Models in the U.K. have traditionally been made to a scale of 10mm. = 1 ft. but a scale of 3/8" = 1 ft. is also used.
Longhedge models are produced to 10mm. = 1 ft.scale. Coarse scale wheels are standard but we can provide fine scale wheels if requested.
In view of the variety of layouts in Gauge 1 and the various electrical supply sytems used, all Longhedge locomotives can be fitted with a switched supply systen, allowing them to use 2-rail, stud contact or battery supply. All locomotives are supplied with an isolating switch.
Our aim at Longhedge is to make Gauge 1 affordable. The sheer size ensures that it will not be cheap, but we are aiming to provide some of what you need to start a layout without you having to pay collectors prices. For example, our Terrier in plain liveries, starts at £395 (including U.K. VAT)
All our locomotives can be bought in kit form, and the resin locomotives kits need very little skill. If you feel that certain parts of the assembly are too difficult, we will even make up sub-assemblies for you, such as the cab on the GWR Hall
