Since the 1993 FIFé World Show in Copenhagen, at the initiative of Jette Eva Madsen, it has become customary for European NFC breeders to gather once a year and discuss the development of the Forest Cat in their various countries. The post of international secretary was established to encourage a similar exchange of information throughout the year.
Now that most of the Forest Cat breed clubs are online, I no longer send out 'paper' mailings, but keep an e-mail list for the distribution of news items at frequent intervals. Club correspondents inform me of their local activities, and in turn make the material I send them available to their members.
We are interested in announcements of NFC special shows and seminars, 'Top Skogkatt' lists, veterinary articles, and news items from your breed clubs. The idea is to provide the clubs with information for their newsletters, and some of this material is now available online as well, depending on the time we have for updates.
The language of the secretariat is English, but you may also write to me in French or German. I do not speak Spanish myself, but if you write to me in that language I can have your message translated.
I do not keep an international kitten list, but may be able to put you in touch with a breed club in the country that interests you. Have a look at the 'Links' page for a listing of NFO clubs, breeder friends and a variety of other sites dealing with genetics, veterinary issues, etc. Most of the club sites will show a list of the kittens available in their member catteries.
My e-mail service is free to any Forest Cat breeders interested in receiving information in English. If you would like me to add your name to my e-mail group, let me know.
