APRIL 1997

John Niewoehner, Chris Greeff, and Luis Manriquez  went on a 
4-day trip to Sonora last April. The group visited the Hermosillo Unit of
 COAPAES,  where we were received by the State of Sonora officials.
 The group visited the water production facilities and a  new infiltration 
gallery already in operation.

Afterwards they headed for Yecora but got lost upon leaving Hermosillo.
Only after reaching the dam on a very scenic highway did they realize
 this. Heading towards Sahuaripa on a secondary road they managed to
 get back on the main highway.
The previous night there had been a snowstorm and the mountain
 passes were covered with fresh-fallen snow. Upon reaching Yecora
 two hours late, hail and snow started to fall.

The group also visited El Quipor where we met with the
 local water committee representative.

NOVEMBER 1996

Larry Hansen, Kevin Snyder, and Luis Manriquez returned from
a 4 day trip to Sonora in November.
The highlight of the trip was a visit to the Hermosillo Unit of COAPAES,
where we were warmly received by State of Sonora officials.
The group visited the water treatment plants, the laboratory, and an 
infiltration gallery  proyect under construction.

The group also visited Tesopaco, Yécora, and El Quipor.
