Beverley Dupre from Saskatchewan, Canada has e mailed us this query
:-
My father, David Peattie HUNTER was born in
Kirkcaldy in 1910 on Links Street. He died in 1980 in
Saskatchewan Canada. His father was Andrew HUNTER, born 1884
and died May 1938, Glasswork Street Kirkcaldy, married
Elizabeth PEATTIE at Sinclairtown Dysart Fife on January 1,
1904. Andrew's father, Peter HUNTER was a tailor by trade.I
would appreciate it if you could direct me to where I could
get some information as to whether his name appears on the
tradesman lists in your city. I'm desperate to find a link to my G grandfather
Peter Hunter. I can add ELIZABETH PEATTIE'S parents were DAVID
PEATTIE and JANET ALLAN . DAVID was a ploughman and was
dec'd by 1904 . Thanks. Beverley Dupre
Another request from Narelle Walker, Brisbane, Australia :-
Hello, My name is Narelle Walker and I live in Brisbane
Australia. I have some information I have gleaned from
family records and searches when I was in Edinburgh many
years ago. My relative Thomas Scott I believe owned the
sawmill in Dysart or Kirkcaldy which burned down shortly
after 1891 possibly from a spark from the Edinburgh Express.
I believe that he was in charge of the building of St Mary's
Cathedral in Edinburgh, built the Station Hotel in Kirkcaldy
and Whytehouse Mansions and the Kirkcaldy new harbour.
I believe that he donated a football field in
Kirkcaldy in Factory Road called Scotts Football field.
Apparently he used to live with his family in Factory Road,
Pathhead, Dysart. Here I am confused is Dysart in Kirkcaldy?
Can you tell me anything about the events I have
mentioned? Have I contacted the right people? Is the field
still there? I believe he died in Freuchie. I would very much appreciate any information you
could give me. Narelle Walker
