Database Magic with Ken North (Prentice Hall PTR) discusses server-side programming of database applications. It explains ODBC, OLE DB, Java database programming, and Java-enabled databases. It also explains logic in the database (constraints, functions, stored procedures) for IBM DB2, Informix Dynamic Server, Sybase Adaptive Server, and Microsoft SQL Server. Published December 1998.
"ODBC, JDBC, and the Quest for a Black Box" is an excerpt from Database Magic with Ken North that ran in Dr. Dobb's Sourcebook. The excerpt has been translated to Chinese and German.
