And a special welcome to fellow SFWA members who might be looking for my Nebula-recommended novella, "Navajo Moon-Bird." Here's a link that will take you right to the story.
My professional
debut was with the short story "Second Chance" published in the September 1997 issue of Analog. I then
sold a novella to Analog, "Ataxia in Ataraxia," which appeared in the December '98 issue of the magazine.
My third story in Analog, "The Mycojuana Incident," was the lead story in the February issue for 2001. Accompanying that story is a "Biolog" profile of yours truly -- so readers can learn about my background, my interests, you name it!
Breaking into another market, my short story "Brain Drain" appeared in the third issue of the new Mars-oriented magazine Artemis (Autumn, 2000). Insider tip: This story is set in the same fictional universe as my two novels, about which you are about to read.... "Brain Drain" has also been reprinted in the ezine Doing Freedom!
Story number four for Analog, "Navajo Moon-Bird," was the lead story for December, 2001. I was thrilled to have it receive an honorable mention in Gardner Dozois' The Year's Best S.F., 19th edition -- and doubly thrilled to have it recommended for Nebula Award consideration this year!
My first sf novel, Escape to Serendipity, has been making the rounds of publishers for months. If you'd like me to email you with publication details when it's bought (positive thinking!), just drop me an enote at franvan@canada.com (no, I don't live in Canada -- this is just a very convenient free email account). My second novel, Poseidon's Children, is in the works -- and already under consideration by one of the top sf publishers.
For now, be my guest ... relax and explore a bit!
