Gunpowder Golf Course

14300 Old Gunpowder Road, between Van Dusen Road and MD 198. Snack bar, pro shop, lessons available. Shagging field and practice green. Rolling terrain, with water in play on six holes. Not long, but little margin for error. Errant shots are very likely to go into deep woods with prickly underbrush or water - bring more than one sleeve of balls unless you can hit it straight and with consistant length. I have seen blue heron and hawks in the woods surrounding the course, but still no birdies!

Trotters Glen Golf Club

16501 Batchellors Forest Road, Olney. Off Georgia Avenue (MD 97) about two miles North of MD 28. The new management is far more congenial than the previous, but this Ault, Clark & Associates designed course is still recovering from their neglect. Beware on the eighth hole, which adjoins the netless driving range. If you tend to hit to the left, I suggest a yellow ball so you can find it among the stray range balls. Conditions and prices are currently equivalent to the local municipal courses. Snack bar, large pro shop, driving range, lessons available.
