This dedicated specialist unit is situated within the Chest Clinic and is managed by Mrs C Moore and Mrs A Britton.

As an essential part of the radiology team this department has already been recognised by several quality awards and continues to promote the highest levels of service and care required in the diagnosis of the aspects of chest physiology.

The x-ray department has been accredited with:

    NHS Trust Quality Team Award

Innovations and the way forward for the x-ray department are:

  • Ability to provide a greater flexibility of opening times in response to the needs of chest clinic and outpatients.


  • A financial package has been secured to provide computer and report printers for Chest Physicians and their secretaries to allow reports of GP DXD films and chest clinic films to be transcribed onto computer the same day which will enable:


  1.  GP surgeries to be e-mailed with the results.

  2.  Other departments within the hospital to access
