The clinic nurses within the out-patient
department are employed to provide a
service for all clinics including the Chest Clinic and must ensure that patients are welcomed courteously and guided through the process of investigations prior to consultation with the minimum amount of
anxiety and delay.

They ensure that patients understand their consultation and provide support when necessary.  They must maintain a good working relationship with all other members of the chest clinic team. 
.
The range of expertise needed for individual clinics is very varied although we have the underpinning support of G-grade Sister, Jane Faraut,  Sister Theresa Rothwell who recently retired after many years of service to the Chest Clinic and returned part-time to the general out-patient department, a part-time D grade RGN and an experienced nursing auxillary, Barbara McGregor. 

   
    Their specialist work includes:

• Heaf testing and BCG vaccination

• Chemotherapy clinic including counselling and practical skills.

• Venesection - assisting medical staff

• The preparation of patients for day case bronchoscopy sessions .
