The Irish American Heritage Association of Katy, Texas

"The Irish American Heritage Association is a non-profit 
organization whose membership is open to those of Irish background, 
birth, or culture.  The purpose of this Association is to promote 
and encourage the spirit, legends and culture of the Irish people 
and to promote sociability, general welfare and fellowship among 
its members."  "Our hope is that it will be a cultural, historic, 
entertaining and somewhat sentimental organization" --quote of Mike 
Long, founding member and Charter President.

To begin the New Year, The Irish American Heritage Association of 
Katy, TX will resume holding the monthly meeting on 
Tuesday, Jan. 22nd at 7:30 pm at the M.U.D. (Municipal Utility 
District) Building located off of the intersection of Cimmaron 
Parkway and Hidden Canyon Road in Katy, TX.   Monthly meetings are 
regularly held on the 4th Tuesday evening of each month.

Upcoming meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 22nd at 7:30pm:  This meeting 
is going to be an informal social hour where members can give input 
into what kind of meetings and guests to consider for the regular 
Tuesday meetings for the year ahead.  Of course the planning for 
the St. Patrick's Day party and dance being held on Saturday, March 
16th, is currently in process--the entertainment is being arranged, 
and the location is selected at the West Memorial Civic Center, 
22415 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, TX.  The party will be limited to 100 
guests and tickets are currently selling for $15.00 each.  We 
encourage all of those interested to buy the tickets early by 
contacting Phil Connelly, President at 281-492-8780 or Ed Conner, 
Treasurer at 281-492-6337.

The Irish Heritage News monthly newsletter (edited/published by Tom 
& Ann Hoar) is delivered around the 18th of each month (prior to 
the IAHA meeting) available by regular 1st class mail or via e-
mail.  Please let the membership chairperson, Mary, know of your 
preference when you check in at the next meeting.  Also, 
advertising space is available on the newsletter so forward your 
interest in placing your advertisement to Attn: Ed 
Conner, Treasurer. 

Information about the previous meetings:
The December 2001 monthly meeting was suspended due to the 
Christmas holiday and instead scheduled
The New Year's Dance which was a great time for the 71 guests at 
the party.  Festivities included great food, music by Rick McCool, 
and fun included door prizes to those who drew lucky ticket 
numbers.

The November 2001 meeting featured a guest speaker Graydon Wilson, 
a Houston attorney who serves as the Press Relations Officer for 
Irish Northern Aid.  He gave a presentation on the history and 
problems in modern Ireland.
