LOOKING FOR LITTLE EGYPT by Donna Barbrick Carlton explores
the not-so-innocent era of ballyhoo, sideshows, and hoochy coochy, exploding
the myths surrounding the infamous exotic dancer, Little Egypt. The search
for the original notorious Little Egypt begins with the 1893 Chicago World's
Fair and moves to New York in 1897, when she played to packed houses on
Broadway. Describes in detail the Oriental dances at the 1893 fair, and
shows how scandal propelled imitation versions in sideshows and burlesque
houses. Tells how Anthony Comstock, the country's most powerful censor,
tried to shut down the dancing shows--only to create greater publicity

Keti Sharif
Keti Sharif's audiences have included Arab and Malay
Royalty, the Malaysian Prime Minister, the late and current Kings of Malaysia.
She has danced at the Cairo Ramses Hilton in Egypt, aboard Starcruises,
Genting Highlands Casino, 5 Star Hotels in Singapore, and for Middle Eastern
cultural events. Based in Egypt, author and former principal teacher of
bellydance, Keti now only appears for special performance events. We are
