In 1988 he performed Bernstein's Halil, conducted by the composer, and was consequently invited to perform in the Ode to Freedom Christmas concert in East Berlin, again conducted by Bernstein. Since then, he has performed concerti with Rostropovich, Michael Tilson Thomas and Ion Marin.  Recent engagements have included concerts in France and Belgium and a concerto with the LSO in Spain and at the Barbican in March 1996.
