The BSG was formed in 1984 by a small group of stickmakers who felt that many people practicing this very old craft, usually entirely on their own, should be able to further their interest through a national organisation. Within the first year this small group had grown to nearly 500. Membership continues to increase and now stands at over 1,400 including many overseas members. Any person who makes or has an interest in walking sticks is welcome to join the Guild.
