The term 'early harp' includes all the various kinds of harp that were played in the centuries BEFORE the modern, orchestral pedal harp was invented: medieval harps, renaissance harps, baroque harps; Irish harps, Italian harps, Spanish harps; as well as less well-known but related instruments like the arpanetta, psaltery, and rotta.
