Rules in force for this season are as follows:
- 3 lap races, featuring all published rules (slipstreaming, weather, tyre types, etc.), with the exception of qualifying, which will continue to be determined by rolling a D20, and variable weather. The rules for the latter involve a second weather roll to be made, to determine the weather at the start of the race. Where this roll gives a rain result, the race will begin in the wet, otherwise, the race will be dry to begin with. Changes in weather during the race are as the printed rules.
- Players will randomly select car colours prior to the start of the season, and will stick with those colours for each race. Pits will continue to be assigned based on the colour of the car.
- Car designs continue to be amendable on a race-by-race basis, and may differ between the team's two cars, as required.
- Points are awarded to team/driver finishing in the top 6 places, as follows: 1st – 10 points, 2nd – 6 points, 3rd through 6th – 4,3,2,1 points respectively. The championships for both drivers and manufacturers will be determined at the end of the season, using these points accumulations.
- Driver Points will be used – 1 Driver Point will be awarded for every 30 championship points scored. These points will be permanent, and will therefor also apply to any future seasons. Driver Points may be used to add or subtract one from the rolled movement, in a similar manner to soft tyres and brakes respectively. Only one Driver Point may be used in this manner in any given turn. Each earned Driver Point may be used only once per race.
- Team Points – For every three victories won by a team, a Team Point is obtained. A Team Point may be used to increase the number of construction points for one car for one race. Only one point may be expended on a single car in each race, allocated to any of the six standard categories. Points remaining at the end of a season can be carried over.
- Injuries/Fatalities – If a car is eliminated during a race (due to bodywork, suspension or engine damage, or crashing at a corner), the player rolls a D20 (adding 3 to the roll if the car was eliminated due to Engine Damage). If the result is less than the current gear number, the driver has suffered an injury. The player then rolls another D20 and checks the following table:
- If the number rolled is less than the gear number, the driver cannot race for the remainder of the season. In this case, another D20 roll is made. If this roll is also less than the gear number, the driver is killed in the incident.
- If the number rolled is between the gear number and 10 (inclusive), the driver misses 1 race due to injuries.
- If the number rolled is between 11 and 15 (inclusive), the driver misses 2 races due to injury.
- If the number rolled is 15 or greater, the driver misses the next 3 races.
- Where a driver's injuries are fatal/too severe for the driver to continue racing, the team should select a replacement driver, starting with no Driver Points (if used). For less serious incidents that involve the driver missing events, the team may bring in a substitute driver (with no Driver Points, if used). Points scored by replacement drivers are not added to the injured driver's total (a new total should be started for the replacement driver), but are added to the team's championship points total, as normal.
- If a serious accident (see above) takes place after the end of the first lap, the race is finished and the position of the cars on the track at the moment of the accident determines the finishing positions. If a serious accident takes place during the first lap, a new start is made for a two-lap race, and the starting grid is determined by the positions of the cars at that time. No tyre changes/repairs are permitted before the restart.
- When a car loses its final Engine point, there is a 50% chance that the car will still able to move (though the driver may choose to stop if he/she wishes). The damaged car is able to limp along for a short period of time, moving one space for the gear it is currently in, but dropping one gear per turn, until neutral (gear 0) is reached. A car damaged in this way may still be able to finish, however, even if it is able to return to its pits, it cannot be repaired – fitting a new engine would take far too long !
- High wing and experimental engine rules will not be used.
- Drivers eliminated from the race may still be classified for a placing, if fewer than six cars finish the race. Such non-finishing places will be determined, not by the "last man standing", but by who completed the greater race distance.
