Oxbow Bend Mt. Moran provides the backdrop to Oxbow Bend in Grand Teton National Park. This slow water stretch of the Snake River is favored by brown trout, nearby however, the cuttroat dominates.

This aerial shot was taken from a hot air balloon not long after sunrise one calm summer morning. In the foreground flows the Gros Ventre River just before joining forces with the Snake River. The Gros Ventre is largely dewatered by irrigation demands before reaching the Snake, but is a fine mountain stream in its upper reaches. Aerial view of Gros Ventre and Snake Rivers junction

Winter sunrise on the Grand Tetons Alpen glow lights up the Tetons on this recent winter morning. Wyoming Game & Fish tells us that winter mortality rates for the Snake River cuttroat can reach 65%.
