International Foundation for Sexual Health

The International Foundation for Sexual Health* (IFSH) has been established to assist programmes dealing with all aspects of prevention and management of Sexually Transmitted Diseases/HIV/AIDS and the promotion of good sexual health.

IFSH aims to provide effective leadership in the field of sexual health and offers access to leading expertise from the UK/Europe and other countries to address the needs of clients in the public sector, private and voluntary organisations and donor agencies. Through its multi-disciplinary collaborating partners, IFSH promotes an integrated approach to sexual health programmes.

* Sexual Health includes sexual education, prevention activities, family planning/child spacing, Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) and HIV/AIDS.

Meeting Needs of Sexual Health Programmes

IFSH has been formed through the collaboration of multi-disciplinary institutions and organisations.

It aims to address the needs of sexual health programmes by:

• Evaluation of services, strengthening service quality and improving access

• Designing and developing projects using a multi-disciplinary approach

• Improving communication and health promotion efforts

• Providing regional and international expertise to develop local skills and strengthen programmes

• Organising workshops and seminars in the UK and at regional collaborating institutions

• Strengthening research skills and developing collaborative research

• Monitoring and evaluation programmes

International Experience

The International Foundation for Sexual Health has brought together institutions and organisations from the UK/Europe and other countries who have extensive expertise and experience in the fields of HIV/AIDS/STDs and sexual health

The International Foundation for Sexual Health is located in a large UK Hospital Trust providing integrated sexual health services, and our national and international partners, enable us to offer:

• Operational experience of over 60 years in the delivery of sexual health services

• An effective integrated sexual health centre with excellent facilities for seminars and workshops

• A strong research base in both clinical and non-clinical disciplines

• Consultants with a broad range of technical skills and experience of working in 49 countries

• Expertise in the design and implementation of programmes addressing the needs of hard to reach and at risk groups
