19th Hitchin (Christchurch) Guide CompanyHi, it's the 19th Hitchin (Christchurch) Guides here. Welcome to our web page. We want to tell you about some of our favourite and least favourite camp and Guide things.
We would like to tell you firstly about our favourite camp recipe.
Ingredients:
You pour the can of fruit into a tin. Mix the cornflakes and golden syrup together. Pour onto the fruit. This is delicious with evaporated milk. Send us your favourite camp recipe.
We had an enquiry from some Girl Scouts in the USA, because golden syrup is somewhat peculiar to the UK. If you have this kind of problem, you may like to try the Epicurious Food Dictionary - Ed.
Another thing that we would like to tell you about is a wide game we play based on a Greek myth.
The group needs to divide into about four teams. Each team needs to start with some gold coins (cardboard and tinfoil will do!). Every member of every team needs a piece of coloured material as a tail. Each member of each team needs the same colour tail.
Each team needs to start off with a base to keep their gold coins at. One member of the team needs to guard them. The object of the game is to steal other people's coins without losing your tail.
You should also be trying to steal other people's tails. If you lose your tail, you need to pay one of your gold coins to "the ferry man." This ferry man was used in Greek mythology as the person who took the dead to the other world.
If you have a favourite game, we'd love to try it.
Our least favourite thing about camp is sleeping on the ground. We don't like it because of the stones, spiders and all the damp! But we like most of Guide camp!
