Some of our troop's favourite games are poison, chair-football and bundle-football. However, we're always on the lookout for new ones, so tell us about your favourites.

The Troop on camp... and before you leave, don't forget to visit the Garbanzo Stew Page!

Poison:

A game for psycos like us and other hard troops!

A cone is placed the centre of the floor. Everyone forms up in a ring around holding wrists, tightly. If the ring is broken then anyone not holding two people or that touches the cone is out. The last one left is the winner of the game, so the nastiest person usually wins!!

Leader's note - like lots of the games we use, this one comes from the "Scout Games" book, which you should be able to get from Camping and Outdoor Centres.

Chair-football:

Scouts sit on chairs evenly distributed around the walls of the hall. A football is thrown into the middle, and Scouts try to eliminate other players by kicking the ball between the front legs of their chairs. Any Scout who is eliminated must sit down. The last player left in is the winner. For a quicker game, use several balls, and/or eliminate players whose chairs are touched anywhere by the ball.

Leader's note - brought to the Troop years ago by three brothers who transferred from elsewhere in the country, and popular ever since.

Bundle-football, a wide game:

A game that only complete fools play (that's why we play it). Two trees are used to mark out goals at each end of the pitch. There are no pitch boundaries and there should be brambles/scrub between the goals. Feet are the only limbs allowed to touch the ball, but however bundles are not only permitted but half the fun. The winning team is the team that scores the most in the time.

Leader's note - apparently neighbouring villages used to play this game in the Middle Ages. One goal was in each village and the game could go on for days even though the first goal won. Our games are mercifully short by comparison.

Our troop has around 30 scouts divided into 5 patrols. We have three regular leaders and two others who come sometimes. In the evenings we usually are forced to do badge work, but every now and then we play games or have a laugh.

In our troop we have many famous sayings:

James (PL Otters) and Greg (PL Falcons)
