Like most re-enactment groups Sceaftesige has many members interested in the weapons and combat methods of the period.
The weapons and armor is as accurate as is possible in construction and materials, though for the sake of safety most combat weapons are of modern EN45 steel and so less likely to break than the originals ! Sceaftesige is particularly lucky in the number of skilled chain mail and leather crafters it has.
Our combat is with steel weapons and as we fight competitively, we follow a strict set of rules and training. All those who wish to become warriors must attend regular practices and tests of competence before being allowed on the battle field.
