Welcome to Sceaftesige Garrisons Web Site . Sceaftesige Garrison is a historical re-enactment group interested in Dark Age history, particularly the Saxon and Viking cultures. We study and provide public demonstrations (living history) of a wide variety of Saxon and Viking crafts, showing the structure of the Dark Age society and their beliefs. We also show how the vikings and saxons waged their military campaigns, displaying typical viking and saxon military equipment and the combat techniques used.

What is a living history group?

A living history group researches the past, finding out about the crafts and culture of time period, then uses it knowledge to entertain and educate others with shows and displays of what it was like to live in that time period. Sceaftesige is interested in the period 946 to 1066, usually referred to as the dark ages or early medieval. To learn more about our group and the Dark Age period please browse the following links.
