What Do We Do ?

Sceaftesige is the Berkshire and Buckinghamshire area group for Regia Anglorum, a national dark age re-enactment society.

Regia is one of the more established societies and sets itself high standards. These standards are recognised and utilised by organisations such as English Heritage, the BBC and the Jorvik Centre in York. To its members these standards are reflected in the quality combat and craft training, the resources available (from basic clothing to 4 viking longships), the organisation (members handbooks, memberships books, a regular society magazine) and the wide range of events and locations covered (festivals all over the UK and Ireland, film work, banquets, tournaments,,,)

School Show

Most of all the society and group is about FUN. Its atmosphere attracts members of all sexes from 4 weeks to 60 years with many family groups.

At a local level the Sceaftesige Master At Arms organises monthly battle practices, usually in coordination with other groups. The Civilian officer runs regular craft days and weekends where skills can be exchanged and additional hands found for the larger projects. A recent example of this was an authentic workshelter to provide cover and protection for exhibits and members at larger events.

Although we can be frequently found attending events all over the UK, local shows have a special magic of their own. Beside helping out with local fetes and fairs we also do trips to local schools to give talks and demonstrations. If you would like us to attend your school please email us via the contact on the home page.
