Instant Centers are ready to pull out of the book and use! You have a program of stimulating. enjoyable projects for children:
* Designed for independent work with a minimum of direct supervision from the teacher.
* Can be used with readers and non-readers.
* Materials needed are inexpensive and readily available.
* Each activity includes detailed “How To” instructions for the teacher.
* Student worksheets are reproducible.
INSTANT CENTERS combine the visual and tactile senses, and they add variety to the child’s daily work.
How INSTANT CENTERS are used:
Each Center Activity project consists of a Center Activity Sheet and a reproducible Student Worksheet.
The Center Activity begins with a picture list of the materials the child will need for the activity. Next, picture directions show how to complete the project - 1,2,3.
Teacher directions on materials to gather are at the top of the Student Worksheet. This list can be cut off or covered before reproducing the Student Worksheet.
The project is completed on the Student Worksheet by following the picture directions on the Center Activity Sheet. Readily available materials are used: Rice, Yarn, Macaroni, Paper Scraps, etc. These provide a variety of tactile experiences.
INSTANT CENTERS used by:
Kindergarten through second grade teachers in a traditional, conventional or open classroom setting.
* The projects can be used as individual or small group activities. You are not limited to a “learning center” classroom structure. Children can follow the picture directions independently with a minimum of supervision from you.
Remedial or Special Education teachers.
* Some children need more of the concrete, hands-on type of experience that INSTANT CENTERS provide. Picture directions allow use by children who are not proficient readers.
NUMBERS 10 - 20:
Reinforces the concept of place value using concrete objects.
These “hands on” manipulative activities assist the child in becoming familiar with the concept of place value - tens and ones. The child counts out “things” and glues the correct numbers of “things” on top of the number in the ones place and the number in the tens place.
INSTANT CENTERS, a great addition to your learning program!
HOLIDAYS:
Designed to answer “ How do you spell?” questions.
A seasonal writing pictionary...
Over 170 holiday pictures with words for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentines Day, St. Patrick's Day and Easter. The pictures and words together enable the child to do writing activities independently without having to ask how to spell words.
Includes reproducible pages to make a picture word dictionary, holiday shape booklet, that can be used for a variety of drawing and writing activities at different ability levels. Lined writing shapes for each holiday are included.
INSTANT CENTERS will help you provide for individual differences in learning styles. Each child has his own unique style of learning.
< Children like to touch and manipulate things, recording their own sensory experiences; they need to experiment with concrete objects before they can form abstract ideas. Most fill-in-the-blank pencil and paper work are on the abstract-symbolic level, which is not where we should start the child.
