The Museum collection display is largely due to the dedication of one man, John C. Jacques MBE in restoring them. Some items were almost unrecognisable before he started work upon them. John's father, who lived in the village, was the signalman here and John started his working life on the railways at Shackerstone Station as the "lad", before moving on to become a signalman around the area. |
John has also written a number of Railway Tales that have been published. The tales are loosely based on John's experiences on the railways of north-west Leicestershire and are recommended as an insight into "how it was."
