Shackerstone Station is situated midway between Ashby-de-la-Zouch and Hinckley in Leicestershire and is signposted from both the A444 (M/A42 Jct 11 or A5 Redgate turn) and A447 (to A511 (either A42 Ashby or M1 Jct 22) or Hinckley A47) trunk roads (Beware! Mobile speed cameras operate on both these roads - even on Sundays!). From these points the route is marked with brown tourist signs for you to follow. From the B585 Market Bosworth road, through the villages of Congerstone and Shackerstone.

Once through the village of Shackerstone you will pass over a canal bridge and then straight away another larger bridge. Immediately after the crown of this bridge take the turn to the left down the short incline. At the bottom of the incline turn to the left again and the gates into the railway site are in front of you. The station is approximately a quarter of mile from here along the old track bed.

For Sat Nav the nearest postcode to our entrance gates is CV13 0BS
However please note if you follow your sat nav to the letter it will not bring you to our gates
and you should read the directions above.

Please note there is no vehicle access to the station along Station Road in the village of Shackerstone - it is a private road. The car park entrance is just to the north of the village.

For Thomas and other major events a special car park may be in use please follow the relevant signs and stewards directions on the day.

The route to Shenton Station and the Battlefield is also signposted from Market Bosworth, however a small car parking fee is payable.

Market Bosworth Station is closed this season to passengers therefore there is no public access to it.

By Foot

Ashby Canal Walks Leaflet The "Ashby Canal Towpath Trail" passes close by all three Battlefield Line Stations.

Shackerstone Station (Landranger 140 379065) is part of the "Leicestershire Round" long distance path which also takes in both the Battlefield (Shenton Station Landranger 140 397004).

Leaflets on the various walks in the surrounding area are usually available from Leicestershire County Council.

By Water

Those aboard narrowboats can visit and moor near by Ashby Canal bridge No. 52. From there you follow the towpath and walk under canal bridge No.52 "Turn Bridge". Walk up the path to the road - there is a handrail if you need it. Then a left-hand turn over the top of bridge 52 and towards the original station drive. Although this is a privately owned drive, it does make up part of the Leicestershire Round footpath that passes over the railway footbridge. The drive is not a made up road (no tarmac!), but still retains its original county lane appearance with a stone finish. Passing alongside the canal, now opposite the aqueduct again, we make our way over the cast iron bridge before turning the corner to arrive in front of the station. This walk is approximately 1/3 mile or 0.5km and should take about 10 minutes at a comfortable walking pace.
