Built by Gloucester Railway Carriage & Wagon Co. in 1958 (lot 30419). No. 55005 is a single car (DMBS), or "Bubblecar" as their class were nicknamed, 65 seater, which spent it's early days at Leamington Spa, followed by spells at Tyseley, Hamilton, Inverness, Longsight, and Laira - so it is one of the most Travelled' DMU's ever! Withdrawn as surplus from Laira in May 1992 and became the first "Bubblecar" to be preserved, it arrived at Shackerstone in late November that year.

Class 116 Type DMBS
51321
Class 118 Type DMS The Class 118's were built by the Birmingham Carriage & Wagon Co. and
introduced in 1959. There were a total of 15 sets built made of 3 car sets. 51321 is the
only survivor of the class and seats 89. Originally stationed in the west country working
around Plymouth and Bristol, it eventually moved up to Tysley, Birmingham in 1987. It was
withdrawn from passenger services in October 1991 and was converted and worked out of
Tysley as a sandite unit. When it arrived at Shackerstone, in July 1997, replacement
chairs were required to plug the gap that was left by the sandite equipment, which had
been removed prior to arrival.
