  • Here's the latest newsletter from Roger, including some tentative tour dates and a link to the video for 'Treasure':

  • I bet you’d forgotten you joined this mailing list didn’t you ? Hah you did and I apologise for not using it and sending out more, this is where I’m supposed to say “ but that’s all going to change” , it probably wont but I will try and do more…

So enough apologising but by way of explanation, this has been a busy summer and as most of you probably already now I am now signed to a record label and the release of my record “ The Truth In You “ is less than two week away on October 24th 2006. I had been trying to get a distribution deal for our own label 99X/10 and found these guys in New York who were just starting a label and offered me a deal I couldn’t really refuse. It means that I will have a full release, initially only in North America but by early in the new year the rest of the World as well. Promotion for the N. American release is well under way and theres lot of stuff going on not least of which is a small tour, two actually.

The first tour is in conjunction with Apple Computers and I will be playing at 4 of their stores, New York (SoHo), Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles (Santa Monica), dates below. I will be playing a couple of songs but most interestingly, hopefully, I will be demo-ing my song writing process and also talking about how we create visuals. I am also going to write a song on stage and that will be given away as a prize along with the rest of the album on an iPod Shuffle. Then there will be a q&a session. Should be fun and I would love to see everyone there and have a chat after.

Later in the year, starting around November 27th I will be playing some clubs, so the full show with visuals by video artist Richard Cornelisse which are fantastic. They are pretty small venues and it should be very intimate, I would be very very happy if any of you could come and I will have time to hang out and have a few drinks ! Ill put the tentative dates at the bottom but you should check my website for confirmation.

Erin and I have been crazy busy making stupid videos of me playing the album and the cow that live next door and all sorts of things but we did make one serious one for Treasure. Although nobody releases singles anymore its kind of the single. It will be featured as an exclusive on Apple Quicktime but I am going to put the link at the bottom so you can have a sneak peak. All the other videos are gradually being posted on YouTube, yes $1.8 billion dollar YouTube, now why can’t I think up something clever like that?

I’ve also been doing lots of remixes, Midlake, The Postmarks, Cassettes Won’t Listen and collaborating with an Australian singer called Lenka. She was just at my studio in England and we did a couple of songs together, they sound amazing. We also finished recording Erins debut album with Mario Thaler in Weilheim this summer and we are just waiting for a free five minutes to mix it.

Ok what else ? Oh yeah, I will be at CMJ music conference talking about home recording studios which should be fun. The next day, 2nd of November, I’m playing the Worlds Fair CMJ showcase in New York and then on the 6th I am doing a very special show with Jimmy Lavalles Album Leaf. Jimmy was really instrumental in getting me started on my solo career and re kindling my love for music and playing so it’s a big thank you to Jimmy !

another nugget for Cure fans: A remix by Mike Dempsey himself! Do we have some "old-school" Cure rebirth here?

honestly say that I'm impressed - the cover is very fast and punky sounding... which not only has nothing to do with The Cure but has nothing to do at all with Feiled's style either. Oh well... the link...http://www.myspace.com/feiled."

SONGS FROM 9 SHOWS - A LOAD OF CURE FANS WITH MINI DV CAMERAS CUT TOGETHER WITH THE 'BIG SCREEN' FOOTAGE OF THE NIGHT!

A MUST HAVE FOR CURE FANS - A GREAT HOLIDAY GIFT

In 2005 a nascent Cure trio of Robert Smith, Simon Gallup and Jason Cooper celebrated the return of former guitarist Porl Thompson with a series of nine eclectic headline festival shows across Europe (SPAIN / BELGIUM / FRANCE / GERMANY / SWITZERLAND / SICILY / HUNGARY / GREECE / TURKEY). The quartet's unique blend of passion and power proved to be a thrilling combination, and the summer set a new benchmark for Cure live highs.

Edited by Daren Butler and mixed by Keith Uddin in collaboration with Robert Smith, this 30 song DVD is a wonderful reminder of how and why

  • "The west coast tv ad for the new movie Marie Antoinette used Plainsong."

You can see the tv spot at YouTube. And in case you missed the posts over the last few months, 'Plainsong' and 'All Cats Are Grey' are used in the movie (out in North America on Oct. 20th). Check the May 30th update for more info. The songs are also included on the soundtrack cd (out in North America on Oct. 10th).

"A Forest is featured on the OST of a British film called The History Boys which is based on a play by Alan Bennett.  The OST has been out in the UK since 2 October and will be released in the US on 21 November.  The film opens in the UK on 13 October and in the US on 21 November.

I have just seen a couple of adverts for the film on MTV.  In one of the adverts they are using In Between Days, although that song doesn't seem to
be on the official trailer or the OST.

"I recently saw the new Michel Gondry film "The Science of Sleep". It was a wonderful piece of work. Besides his incredible and imaginative imagery, He also has amazing music taste! In the protagonists bedroom he had posters for The Cure's Head on the Door, Disintegration, Japanese Whispers, The Top and even Three Imaginary Boys right next to a Smiths poster! Now I know that great minds think alike!!!!"

"this was probably the most unexpected curespotting i have ever encountered, and quite possibly one of the best...

at madonna.com, one of her dancers from her Confessions Tour made a video for madonna's birthday present... i won't spoil it for you by giving away the surprise, but check it out, it was great!

go to madonna.com, click on "news" in the upper left hand corner and scroll down to the item in the news section posted on 22 september titled: "Confessions Dancer CLOUD made a special birthday gift for Madonna"

also, before you watch the video, be sure to turn off the Jukebox which is in the upper right hand corner of the website.

    enjoy the special cure treat!"

    (Thanks Danny)
