And I found this poster on several bus stops and metro stations in Brussels. It's a CM for a belgium radio that I didn't have the chance to listen to.

Anyway, I found it pretty amusing and decided to send it to you."

  • Big news IF true - The Cure are scheduled to play some "intimate shows" in North America this May. This comes from Pat White

He lists two shows - May 16th in Burlington, Vermont and May 18th in Toronto, Canada. It should go without saying, but these shows are obviously just rumors at this time and have not been confirmed by any official sources...yet.
Is anyone familiar with Pat White? Is he usually credible?

Update - Disappointing, but not unexpected, two reliable sources are saying the info about "intimate shows" in May is not true and will not happen.

    (Thanks
    Sébastien)

  • Robert did an interview with Metro New York. And that's all I'm saying about that.

  • Roger has written a theme song for the StereoGum website

  • (Thanks Charlie)

  • And if you missed Roger's live shows...

  • "On Roger's message board (through his website) you can find his LA 2006 show in the "Spaceland" thread for download. His album sounds even better live !  He plays an amazing version of his song "...And So I Closed My Eyes" which he dedicates to Jimi Hendrix, it's the coolest thing I have ever heard Roger play."

    Update:
"I've had a number of people asking me how to get to Roger's message board. It might help if you want to post this at ACOF.
Here is the link to Roger's message board : http://p097.ezboard.com/brogerodonnell (you can register very fast)"

  • 'Inbetween Days' used in Ben Folds prank:

  • "I run a website called Improv Everywhere.  We do pranks in NYC.  I'm a huge Cure fan and have been a COF reader for almost 10 years.  Anyway, I wanted to share my latest prank with you.  Ben Folds asked us to pull a prank on his audience which involved three of us coming out and pretending to be him and his band.  We then played along to a CD recording of Ben's cover of "In Between Days".  Most of the crowd was fooled.  The CD skipped (intentionally) and we got "busted".  Check out my site for the photos and video: Improv Everywhere Mission: Ben Folds Fake"

    (Thanks Charlie)

  • Check out ceramic Robert.

"tonight (thursday), on french tv TF1 program 'La Methode Cauet' (where french 'stars', sometimes international come for a funny talk show) one of the guest was french singer Helene Segara (variety) who was asked what she was like when a teenage girl, and she replied that she had a certain haircut a bit like The Cure and the host sings "boys don't cry, oh yeah, I see!" in a funny way...
and in the same program 5 minutes later they have a new guest (french singer Pascal Obispo - variety), and they made a quiz and he got an answer wrong so he was asked to put on fake hair, and it was like Robert's, so he said "well it seems I just turned myself into a Cure fan"
    .

3rd spotting of thursady night (well in fact it's now friday morning), on french tv France 2 late night news, the last report was about the Versailles Castle whch works of art, furniture, and buildings are being restored (I mean they were a little damaged sometimes and they are doing so that they like as new and bright again), and the background music was the little bells we can hear at the very beginning of 'plainsong' (and i'm sure it was that)."

    (Thanks Fabien G)
