Wow, what a show!  This was my first gig with the new lineup, and I have to say that I quite enjoyed this keyboardless "guitar" incarnation of the band.  I really did not miss the keyboards at all - not once in the entire set!  I found that having the guitars do keyboard duty for the most part only added to the intensity of the songs.  Some of the songs have been reworked sinc'I last heard them live and it was great to hear some new takes on the old standards.  While I would have liked more "Pornography" songs on the set, I can't really complain about the set list.

I don't know if it was just me who noticed this, but Robert seemed to be a bit cranky onstage tonight.  There was some confusion with the set lists - the set list he had by his mic stand conflicted with the one next to his "beer" stand - and I saw him very emphatically tell one of the roadies what he thought of this situation.  He was not a happy camper.  He also seemed to make several sarcastic quips to the audience throughout the show and just didn't address the audience very much otherwise.  He seemed tired (which he referenced in the "you think youre tired now..." line of LGTB) and just not completely in the swing of things, both in his stage presence and his guitar playing.

It was wonderful to see Porl again, but he seemed a bit subdued at this show.  I was sitting on the "Simon" side of the stage, so I couldn't really see Porl that well, but it was nice to have him back.

I was very impressed during this show by Jason's work, particularly in "Push".  His drumming was tight and he has added some things to some of
his arrangements that work really well with the songs and add intensity.  For the first time, I *finally* found myself asking, "Boris who?"  :)  It took a while, but Jason really seemed to rock during this show.

But the real star of this show was, for me, Simon.  He was full of energy and seemed to really be having a good time on stage.  It was wonderful to watch him.  Simon has always been my "favorite", so maybe I'm a bit biased, but this seemed to be a particularly good night for him.  He seems to be in great shape and seemed to be feeling really good, which was infectious.  He just looked awesome onstage - I thought the blond hair really worked well on him :) - and he really "made" the show for me.   I could not watch anyone else for most of the show, because he was so great to watch.    :)

Now for some comments about the songs:

- I loved the 3-song Disintegration opening.  "Prayers for Rain" was particularly intense with the added guitar parts and the bass ringing
loudly through the arena.  Robert's voice sounded great, especially when he holds the long note during this song.

- The songs from the last album are not my favorite, but they sound so much better live in my opinion than they did on the album.  Both "alt.end" and "The End of the World" really worked for me with this lineup - and I really like the latter song so much better without keyboards!!

- "To Wish Impossible Things" was just wonderful to see again live - hadn't seen that since the Wish tour!

- As I mentioned before, "Push" was really cool with Jason's different drumming on it.

- "How Beautiful You Are"!!!  That was a real surprise for me and really enjoyed seeing it live, even though it came just after the tense moment
with Robert regarding his set list snafu.

- "A Boy I Never Knew" - very lovely, and Robert seemed emotional (even possibly wiping a tear?) at the end.

- "Us or Them" - Once again, I like this better live than on CD.  I like that Robert only says "I don't want you anywhere near me...etc." once rather than repeating the words so many times.

- "Never Enough" - Does anyone know the story behind the Simon/Porl kiss during this song?  I saw that this took place at a previous show and they did it again on Saturday in Berlin.  ;)  At this show, Porl didn't really seem too in to it, but Simon seemed to be in a very playful mood.  >:)

- "At Night" - Holy cow does this song rock right now.  This song was not one of my faves from Seventeen Seconds, but the way they play it live right now is extremely hot.  The drums are really cool on this one and the bass sounds so awesome.  Both nights (Hamburg and Berlin) this song was one of my favorites from the set.  I want a recording of this.  Mmmm.  :)

- "A Forest" - Again, Simon is such a star, wailing on his bass at the end.  Loved it!

- 3IB encore - These songs just rock with this lineup.  Before launching into "Boys Don't Cry", Robert started playing "Girl from Ipanema" on his
guitar after making a sarcastic comment about something being "fucking obvious" (I had a hard time understanding what he said).  Not sure what
that was about, but this encore was still great.  What a way to end the show.

This show was over 3 hours and it was still not enough for me.  It was so hard to come back home to the States today after only seeing them twice  - I could go to every night on this tour and still want more.   :)  May cannot come soon enough!!

This was the first concert in four years for me(last time was werchter 2004). This was also the first from the 4tour. I go to oberhaussen and  rotterdam in March.

It was great !!! But i really miss a keyboard player. I was in the front and Porls guitar was to loud during some songs. I couldnt hear Robert voice sometimes.

But the setlist was really great !!! Many songs i really like and they played one of my favorites: how beatiful you are . Really a suprise !!

At night was also really great . The new songs: a  have to hear a studio version of them to judge them.

Cant wait to see them in oberhaussen and rotterdam !!!

just came back from the gig. Here is my impression:

I have been a cure fan since 1985 and have seen them a dozen times since 1987. Tonight's show was all in all a good gig. I saw them last at the Trilogy
show in Berlin, so that's over 5 years ago (and was a once in a lifetime experience -curewise and in other aspects).

Unfortunately this must have been the lamest audience I have ever seen at any concert. Especially the people sitting. They didn't wake up until the
encores. Nowadays you see a lot of grey hair at a cure concert. The "typical" cure fans seem to have died out. This results in the fact, that the only crowd movement can be seen during the poppy songs. Nobody in my surrounding was dancing during 100 years. Shame on them!

What was really a drawback, was the fact, that the setlists are so predictable on this tour. In my opinion they should at least change the encores around a bit. Well, at least, I could get some beer during the second encore as I knew I wouldn't miss anything important to me.

The sound was good, sometimes a bit bass heavy. And Porl's guitar is not loud enough - which is a shame. I like Jason's drumming much better now, than I used to.

They started quite on time, so I was rushing into the arena to the first notes of Plainsong.

All three Disintegration songs were very good (What an album!). I just like Fascination street very much.

The next three songs did nothing for me. Did Robert screw up the lyrics  to alt.end or was that an alternate version? The walk is just horrible imho and does not fit into the set.

Next three songs were very good again. Lullaby is - for me - the weakest song on Disintegration. I don't know, why it's such a crowd pleaser. Maybe that swinging rythm...

Nice guitar work by Porl during FTEOTDGS. All in all he covered the keyboard parts quite well, but the keyboard is really missing in How Beautiful You are (a song, that I like a lot) and also later in Close To Me.

Friday I'm in love is - for me - one of the worst cure songs ever written. I just can't stand it.

Among the "new" songs A Boy I never Knew stands out for me. Really nice tune.

Never enough - Very good and energetic drumming by Jason, nice guitar by Porl. It rocked!

The 100 years - Disintegration sequence really showed me, why Robert sees a strong bond between these albums. These two songs just fit perfectly next to each other. Still, I am hoping to once hear a version that is as good as the "Entreat"-Version. Just listen to the guitar stuff Porl plays on that song on that record. He is not doing that now.

1st encore: Very nice. I just LOVE At Night.
2nd encore: Did nothing for me. Freak Show is ... well ... not my cup of  tea.
3rd encore: Did Robert make fun of the not changing setlists? He plays some Boys Don't Cry chords and then says something like "Well, that's too fucking obvious". Then he begins to play some other stuff before he launches into the song.

Grinding halt was very good, also the last two songs. But I wasn't too excited, because it was so predictable.

To sum it up: I missed The Kiss A LOT from the setlist. The band is on fire! But please: They can choose from about 200 songs or whatever. And in
past tours they have proven, that they can play about 100 different songs during a tour... So make it more surprising.
