here are my thoughts on the Oslo show, also with a few comparisons to the concert in Stockholm, which I also attended. We were all really excited about what the band would do as the tour was about to kick off.  would there be more new songs? maybe even a new opener? As tape started
playing in Stockholm I wasn't that surprised though. The band came out and delivered what seemed a quite nervous "open". I was stunned by robert's voice however. Clearer and stronger than ever! In Oslo they kicked off with "plainsong" which sounded more settled and not at all nervous. I really think the main setlist in Oslo was far better than in Stockholm. The crowd was a bit more quiet though. I guess it's really not that strange since it was a monday night. (by the way; Oslo is not in Sweden! I saw someone mentioning 2 Swedish shows. Oslo is in NORWAY!)

Just like in Stockholm, "pictures of you" was the song that "lit" the audience. They played it with perfection. A great surprise was "a letter to elise" in Oslo. A pitty they dropped "how beautiful you are", though. But as I was very close to the stage in Stockholm I could tell by robert's face he wasn't happy with it there. In my opinion it sounded great. The band seemed very excited to be back all in all. Lots of smiles and some dancing. In Oslo robert said a couple of words about norwegian brown cheese, which made the audience laugh. he later confessed that he still didn't speak norwegian, but started the next song ("grinding halt") by counting the "one two three four" in norwegian (en to tre fire). the encores were extremely good both in Stockholm and in Oslo. I think they were best in Oslo actually. especially the secound one, which sounded a bit weird in Sweden. robert ended the oslo gig by saying "see you in another 16 years" (the last time was in 1992).

the concert got 6/6 in the biggest newspaper in norway! or actually, the review started with the lines: 8/6! it also said that an old band like this makes you wonder why other old bands are still out there. the cure are so much better! really nice. swedish newspapers were not that pleased. but from previous experiences they tend to be very critical towards the band. anyway. i'll leave it there. wish i could go to copenhagen tonight. and further on from there. but i need to win the lottery first. i'm truly stunned by these 2 gigs. I must admit i've been a bit worried about the lack of keyboards, and i really think that the festival 2005 dvd is poor. I'm so happy they proved me wrong here. it was great. if only it could last forever.
