Armchair adventurers and educators are invited to explore
marine mammals in the Gulf of Mexico, investigate the El Nino
phenomenon, or simply discover "what's up" in the world of Earth-
orbiting satellites through a new multimedia CD-ROM, "Visit to an
Ocean Planet," produced by NASA and the French space agency.
The CD-ROM can be ordered free of charge at:
http://topex-www.jpl.nasa.gov/education/education.html
A poster 'The Rise and Fall of the '97-'98 El Nino' poster is now available.
Aimed at the Grade 8 level, but also of interest to the general
public, it can be viewed and ordered on-line through
http://topex-www.jpl.nasa.gov/education/el-nino-poster.html. The El
Nino cycle is shown as a series of seven easy-to-understand
oceanography images on the front, and information and classroom
activities are provided on the back. The version that comes through the
on-line service is folded for easy handling. If you want a rolled version
on a heavier stock for long-term display or framing please contact the
TOPEX/Poseidon office at topex@jpl.nasa.gov. Additional educational
material for physical oceanography is available through
http://topex-www.jpl.nasa.gov and http://podaac.jpl.nasa.gov. The
poster is free of charge.
