Hello there! Many of you may recognise my name as a previous Editor of Machine Knitting News. Now in retirement in the East Riding of Yorkshire I still have three knitting machines and specialise in commissions for classic garments for the more mature (or problem) figures. My designs can also incorporate hand knitting as well as crochet to add that extra dimension if required. Should any designers wish to have their patterns checked, size graded and written for publication, this can also be undertaken.

I have almost 20 years knitting experience. During the last 10 or so I have done varied outwork, from 'Mother of the Bride' one-offs to small runs of Gansey style sweaters, berets and gloves! I enjoy designing and altering patterns, and 'knit to fit'.
I have a Brother electronic 950i + ribber and garter carriage and a Brother 260 + ribber. I make up by hand, or using a Hague linker, as required. I also crochet and hand knit.I will consider, and have experience in, all types of knitting, although I prefer not to do intarsia.

Linda Jackson - Dorset/Devon border - machine knitting, felted knitted fabric, crochet
Machine knitting: I design unusually shaped items and specialise in one-offs such as machine knitted garments in plain fabrics but non-standard shapes. I regularly use a computer design program (Designaknit) to translate my ideas to fabric, and can produce knitted fabric corresponding to a paper pattern or a diagram, or produce diagrammatic instructions for other knitters to use.
Felted knitted fabric: I have developed a felted wool fabric with a unique colourwash effect, which can be used to produce purses, bags, or provide trims on other items.
Crochet: I regularly use crochet as a trim for machine knitted garments, as well as using solid crochet for hats, berets and bags. I have a range of made-up items in stock on www.artika.designs.btinternet.co.uk. or will accept commissions for most crochet one-offs or items combining knitting, knitted felt and crochet!

Judith Odell - Hertfordshire - hand knitting
I am an experienced handknitter living in Hertfordshire. I adapt old patterns going back as far as 1910 for 2001+. My speciality is extremely fine matinee jackets [1ply] incorporating old lace patterns in Chinese spun silk. These are meant to be for the first four weeks and are normally kept as heirlooms when no longer in use. I am currently in the process of adapting the same idea for lace caps and bootees.

Jill Stone - Southend on Sea in Essex -hand knitting
I am a handknitter with forty years experience.
I knit anything and everything, any size from baby to adult. I will convert any pattern to make a different style, knit with any wool except mohair (it brings on asthma) Although I love doing any sort of pattern, my favourite is aran. I am willing to tackle any project, i.e. finishing off something that someone has come to grief with, knitting for individual customers or production runs for a knitting company.
In the past I have knitted for a designer, who used to try out her new ideas on me as she said I'd always manage to get it right even if some of her calculations had to be altered!
Apart from hand knitting I also crochet and can do swiss darning.

I have a conservation farm and keep shetland sheep to improve the pastures by the specific way that they graze. High Gill Beck is a conservation farm surounded by forest and nestles in a most delightful dale. We are 20 minutes away from Whitby on the North Yorks coast. Shetland sheep are bred specifically for their soft fine fleece. Most of them are Moorit, which is a rich red/brown colourand a few white fleece that dyes beautifully with natural plant dyes.
