Walsall F.C. 1999 v 1961

Strange, But True!

Spain 4 England 2

In 1984, in Mojacar, Spain, Tony's son played alongside Glenn Hoddle and Graham Rix in an " England v Spain " match. The other 8 players in the England team consisted of 6 holiday-makers and 2 spaniards. The match took place at the top of a mountain, (well, maybe hill), in Mojacar's local stadium (ahem). The Spanish national team was ably represented by the local amateur team - England lost 4-2; with both english goals scored by an on-loan spaniard, (after the three G's had spectacularly failed to beat the goalkeeper).
When asked after the match if he thought the result was slightly embarrassing, Glenn Hoddle replied with an emphatic "No".........actually Glenn.....Yes, it was.
