Montrose Aerodrome Heritage Society is the active element of Montrose Air Station Heritage Centre, which is administered by Montrose Air Station Heritage Trust.

The Museum is an Associate member of Resource (was Museum and Galleries) which registers UK Museums. The Society is recognized as a Charity by the Inland Revenue.

Montrose Air Station Heritage Trust is a member of Scottish Museums Council, the RAF Historical Society, British Aviation Preservation Council, The Transport Trust, MAGDA (Museums & Galleries Disability Scheme), Angus and Dundee Tourist Board, Angus Museums and Heritage Forum.

Montrose Air Station Heritage Centre contains both Royal Flying Corps and Royal Air Force sections along with various other elements representing users of the Air Station since its establishment on 26th February 1913 and other items from more recent times.
