Writing 4 presents
writing as an activity which contributes to language learning in general.
Throughout the book, learners are encouraged to use written English to
express their own ideas and to communicate with each other in the advanced
level classroom. The book concentrates on writing as a process and presents
a variety of approaches to the skill, such as ways of gathering and organising
ideas, producing drafts and getting feedback. It also encourages students
to explore personal approaches to writing and develops different kinds
of writing such as short stories, poetry, argument, formal and personal
letters. A number of linked units allow a topic to be developed further
through projects and mini-simulations.
